Mexican-American flutist, soprano, and Artistic Director Beatriz Macías stands out as one of the most versatile and dynamic figures in the classical music scene today. Acclaimed for the “voice-like beauty” of her playing, Macías has cultivated an international career that makes her highly sought after as a soloist, orchestral flutist, and pedagogue.

Her unique journey began at the age of eighteen with a solo debut at the renowned D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. The following year, Macías’ talent was further acknowledged when she was honored as a Young Performing Artist by Yamaha Corporation of America, paving the way for her to become a distinguished prizewinner in numerous international competitions, such as the Haifa International Flute Competition (Israel), the Pappoutsakis Flute Competition (USA), the Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition (USA), and the Concert Artist Guild Competition (USA).

With a career that spans the globe, Macías has made a significant impact as an orchestral musician. She has held the Principal Flute position with the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra and has successfully navigated trials with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Her impressive repertoire includes performances with renowned ensembles such as the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Dutch National Ballet & Opera Orchestra, Royal Opera House ‘La Monnaie,’ as well as the Finnish National Opera and the Houston Symphony, among many others. Since 2021, she has served as the Principal Flutist of the Estonian National Opera and Ballet.

A frequent presence at summer festivals worldwide, Beatriz has participated as a guest artist at the International Flute and Piano Forum in Luxembourg, “Città di Penne” International Flute Festival in Italy and Tarnowskie Lato Fletowe in Poland. She has also acted as a jury member for international competitions such as the Varaždin International Woodwind and Brass Competition in Croatia, the Maxence Larrieu International Flute Competition in France, Young Flutist Competition in Finland, British Flute Society Young Performer Competition in the UK, and the Pappoutsakis Flute Competition in the USA.

A dedicated mentor for aspiring flutists, Macías has been invited as a guest professor at notable institutions like the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Boston Conservatory of Music, Longy School of Music, and West Virginia University. She is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Tampere Flute Fest in Finland, which is set to transition into the Tallinn Flute Fest in Estonia by 2028. Additionally, she is the co-founder and Artistic Director of the Puerto Rico Flute Festival, where she continues to inspire and support emerging talent.

Additionally, her lyric coloratura soprano voice beautifully complements her musical artistry.

Macías earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music in Massachusetts and a Master of Music degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium, graduating with the highest honors. Her artistry has been shaped by notable instructors including Geralyn Coticone (Former Piccolo, Boston Symphony), Carlos Bruneel (Former Solo Flute, La Monnaie Opera House), and Thaddeus Watson (Former Solo Piccolo, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra).
