This year is the first time that I get an orchid to bloom! It was about time! And to think that an orchid is the national flower of my home country: Colombia.

So luscious! What a gorgeous shot!
You must possess something of a gift for gardening -- it seems really hard to get orchids to bloom. My husband keeps making fun of me for nurturing my orchid "stick" (a dendrobium) these last five years; someday, though, I hope to see it flower.
Well, I used to think so too. Many sticks have decorated my shelves... Until a friend of mine suggested I moved the poor thing by the window, a south facing one... It was all it needed.
